Beaufort Invests to Fast-Track Innovation and Bring Next-Gen Protection to Today’s Platforms

Beaufort is making a bold new wave of investment in its UK Engineering Centre of Excellence, strengthening the nation’s defence industry and accelerating innovations that keep global defence forces protected, performing at their best and mission-ready where the demands are greatest.

Defence forces face environments that push them mentally and physically. To meet that challenge, Beaufort is expanding its engineering team by 10% this year, with preparations already underway to grow capability by a further 30%. At its UK hub, engineers are being equipped with advanced welding and precision laser cutting technologies, expanded 3D printing to explore and realise ideas faster than ever before, and in-water test and qualification capability to prove designs in real time during development sprints.

Together, these advances mean Beaufort can bring new technology to market up to 75% faster, making next-generation innovations available on platforms flying today, while also creating high-value engineering roles across the UK. This investment comes as Beaufort prepares for its next chapter under new ownership, following the announcement of its sale to Capitol Meridian Partners and Stellex Capital Management.

Continued investment in UK-based talent, material science and advanced manufacturing is advancing core Beaufort technology, the foundation for the next generation of force protection. The integration of digital design, rapid prototyping and in-house testing is enabling the creation of lighter, smaller, stronger and higher-performing protective systems that preserve cognitive and physical performance under the most demanding conditions.

Dominic Cartwright, CEO of Beaufort, said:

“Defence forces, in the UK and around the world, operate in environments that test them mentally as well as physically. They need protection that enhances their performance and helps them stay focused under pressure.

That’s why we’re continuing to invest in our UK Engineering Centre of Excellence, expanding engineering capability and equipping it with advanced manufacturing and test facilities to keep pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. Behind this investment is a design engineering team with unmatched knowledge and experience, ensuring Beaufort continues to deliver the innovation our customers expect.

By cementing Beaufort’s position as the leader in force protection innovation, and with the backing of new owners, we are ready to take the business to the next level, delivering solutions that safeguard people, protect critical assets and enable mission success.”

The Defence Investment Summit at DSEI UK will bring together government, industry and international partners to explore how targeted investment can boost capability, accelerate innovation and secure future resilience.
